Raise The Roof

this is the story of how our three roofs became one....
first we built a pitch because flat roofs leak (see photos from Go Jump In The Lake post)
then we extended the roof on the back of the house for a covered patio!! but that doesn't look tall enough..hmm

there we go much better... can you spot the quick fix??

its starting to look like an actual house...

tin roof... its not just my favorite flavor of blue bell anymore
cant wait to get the deck added so i can sit there with a glass of wine and take in the view...

Demo Day

it started with a tree and then it got ugly... the demo has officially begun.
It started with a pry pry here...
and a knock knock there...

here a pull, there a pull...
everywhere a thud thud...

and at this lake... okay you get the point
(and yes, just like on TV it looks so easy in photos but trust me its not)
brick shingles as siding... who would have thought

i guess people in the 50's were nail happy but we finally got all the drywall down without getting tetanus...

the best part of the demo was putting a whole in a perfectly good wall...
so I had to share the moment with my mom
the hubs..playing it up for the camera...my muscle man ;)

discovered beautiful wood siding that used to be the exterior wall of the house that we will keep/stain/use as an interior wall of the bedroom...
saved this old door from the fire pit... and have decided to re-purpose as a headboard

Make It Rain

first things first...we need water.
funny story actually.. and it goes a little something like this...
The inspector comes out and turns on the water...water starts pouring out of the walls and flooding the house... i yell out to the inspector..turn the water off! turn it off!! so he turns it off..my sister looks at me and asks... are you sure you don't  want to just tear this place down and start over???  lol..see i can laugh now because its fixed..but at the time not so funny :-)
so we called the plumber...
and yes.. you can thank me for cutting out the plumbers crack ;-)
he only thought he fixed it the first time...actually took him two more attempts at turning the water on and finding another leak and then turning it back off and fixing it until we pretty much have all new plumbing...cant wait to discover the next surprise in the walls of this old house...
make it rain!!!

Clean Sweep

its a dirty job but somebody has to do it...when we bought this house we inherited everything in it, the good the bad and the ugly
how does that saying go...they took everything but the kitchen sink...well in our case they left us everything even their old kitchen sink...
he claims hes working and trimming up the tree, but it looks like he just needed an excuse to dust off his rock climbing gear
clean storage room..I can't wait to knock down that wall!!!

how much junk can you pull out of a small storage room..ALOT

clean kitchen..see the wall behind the stove..that's the wall we will knock down to get rid of that storage room behind it and make the kitchen larger with a lake view!
keep pile!
Working hard...or hardly working...
we did stumble upon on some diamonds in the rough...cant wait to go cruisin on these babies!
old oil and snuff can...i love old junk

some type of game from Switzerland...anyone know how to play this, let me know?
antique wind chime found by mom while racking the yard...it still makes a great sound

Ring of Fire

and the clean up begins...
the overgrown lake view...

we cut it down down down....
and the flames went higher...
and it burns burns burns...
the ring of fire, the ring of fire...

Go Jump In The Lake

So.... I have been meaning to start a blog for quite some time now.  I figured now that my job is the busiest its ever been, and I am taking 3 grad classes, and my husband and I have just bought a Lake House, or what will one day be a lake house, I would have pleeeenty of time to blog..ha ha ha.

Since I am avoiding doing homework I have decided to begin my blog by documenting the flip of our Lake House!  I have contemplated showing anyone the "before" photos because I am afraid that they will think we are crazy for purchasing this house, but then I was watching HGTV and saw way worse houses people were taking on... so i can do this right????  So you will just have to trust me that this house will become our perfect lake retreat and you really cant beat the view!!!

The BEFORE Photos...dhun dhun duhnnn
                                                             The Back of the house...
Our shed... I am scared to find out whats in there

Yikes!
Not really sure what this room is but it was used for storage and it has the lake view...i dont understand either...
